ABOUT

Picture
I'm a recording engineer, mastering engineer, music producer, and educator. At the heart of it all, I care about helping artists realize their creative vision and making records that move people.

I fell in love with music early on, spending my school lunch hours in the band room practicing trumpet and jamming with friends after class. That curiosity eventually led me to Montreal, where I completed a Bachelor's degree in jazz performance at McGill University. While studying there, my musical world expanded in every direction. The more styles I explored, the more I was drawn to recording and production— to the way sound can be shaped, sculpted, and elevated in the studio, and to the role a producer can play in helping an artist achieve something beyond what they imagined.

As my tastes broadened, so did my ambitions. I loved the freedom of working across genres and collaborating with artists who brought a distinct voice and new perspective. That pull toward the studio led me to pursue a Master's degree in sound recording in McGill's prestigious Tonmeister program— and I've been chasing great sound ever since.

My background as a musician continues to shape how I work. I know what it feels like to stand on the other side of the microphone, and that perspective informs every session. Over a decade as a freelance recording engineer in Montreal, I produced music for a wide range of artists in the city's top studios. I've recorded and produced four JUNO Award-nominated albums, as well as projects that have received the OPUS Music Prize and Western Canadian Music Awards. Along the way, I've had the privilege of working with artists from around the world, such as Marc Copland, Hiromi Uehara, Wycliffe Gordon, Joe Lovano, and Dave Douglas.

My obsession with sound has taken me beyond record production. I've worked in audio post-production for video, recorded film scores at the National Film Board of Canada, collaborated on research-based media projects with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology, and served as an audio consultant for the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, helping implement and install exhibitions. These experiences have expanded my versatility and deepened my abilities as a producer.

I'm currently an Associate Professor in the recording department at MacEwan University in Edmonton, where I teach recording and production techniques, mastering, signal processing, and technical ear training. Teaching keeps me curious and connected to the evolving landscape of music production, and my students help inspire me with their infectious enthusiasm. I bring that same energy back into the studio.

Whether I'm producing, recording, mixing, or mastering, my goal is simple-
make music that's as compelling and exciting as possible while staying true to the artist behind it.
